Outdoor Activities in Maui

There’s no denying it: a boating expedition of some kind is a must-do for visitors who want to experience all of Maui during their stay. Speed boating, jet skiing, and kayaking are three different ways to try boating in Maui—the appeals are different for each one, but they each offer guests spectacular views and contact with the ocean at a higher level of energy and excitement than a cruise is intended for. There’s no wrong way to leave the shore, so check out all the options and see what best fits you and your group!

If a shot of water-fueled adrenaline would be just the thing to complete your vacation plans, look no further than a round of jet boating with Kaanapali Ocean Adventures. Their boat, the Insane, is the only one of its kind on the island, and it delivers everything from 360° spins to breakneck runs along the coast—all on a flat-bottomed design that protects marine wildlife. Kaanapali Ocean Adventures is located next to Whalers Village in Kaanapali, about a 10-minute drive from our oceanfront condos.

Jet skiing is another thrilling way to go adventuring on Maui’s waves. Even if you’ve never done it before, Maui Water Sports can set you up with all the equipment and instruction you’ll need—including automatic safety devices that ensure your protection. Up to three people can ride a ski at the same time, although the ski’s max speed of 50mph will decrease with each additional passenger. Maui Water Sports’ ski area is also located in Kaanapali and extends about a quarter mile into the open ocean.

Finally, kayaking is a third way to get in close contact with Maui waters with an intensive workout thrown into the bargain. Options for trips range from 2 to 4+ hour excursions. Some companies also offer snorkeling as part of their trips, and sightings of dolphins, turtles, and even whales are common (depending on the season). There are several Maui kayaking companies to choose from; Maui Kayaks is one that happens to be located in Lahaina.

However you get on the water, a Maui boating session is sure to be a highlight of your next vacation with Kahana Sunset!

Easy Beach Access & Family Friendly

It is a peaceful, non-resorty sort of place. There is a lovely beach as part of the complex, and other notable beaches, with stellar snorkeling, only a couple of minutes drive down the road. The grounds are well kept up, and there is a nice pool to dip into.
