Your Maui 2020 Bucket List

As the second-largest of all the Hawaiian islands, Maui offers visitors a variety of things to do. From swimming with sea turtles to pineapple farm tours, there is a new and exciting adventure right around the corner. Attend a Luau

Maybe one of the more common activities in Maui is to attend a Lahaina Luau. As far back as 1819, the traditional luau offers a variety of foods, such as a Kalua pig, poi, and Haupia. Drinks typically include local selections, including Mai Tai’s and Blue Hawaii cocktails. Beyond the good food, there is music, dancing, and of course a live performance of a traditional hula dance.

Swim with sea turtles

Snorkel with sea turtles off the coast of Maui. While you can encounter sea turtles by snorkeling most areas of the island, Turtle Town is one of the best places to spot sea turtles. Turtle Town is known for its high population of Hawaiian green sea turtles and because of its location if offers some of the calmest waters – ideal for snorkeling.

Take a pineapple farm tour

Ever wonder how the unusual fruit of pineapple is grown and harvested? Discover all this and more on a pineapple tour. Less than 15 miles south of Kahana Sunset is the Maui Dragon Fruit Farm. The 20-acre farm specializes in growing a variety of fruits, including passion fruit, dragon fruit, and of course pineapple. Join one of their guided tours of the farm and enjoy fruit samples inside their bamboo gazebo.

Walk along a black sand beach

While Maui is home to the best beaches in the world, it is also known for some of its more unique shorelines, including its black sandy beaches. Visit the Wai’anapanapa Black Sand Beach and discover its shiny black sand. Part of what makes this and other beaches on Maui black is the volcanic materials and lava fragments that encompass the area’s shoreline.

Take a picture with Lahaina’s Banyan Tree

Head down to downtown Lahaina to see the massive Banyan tree that draws in onlookers from all over the world. The tree spans one-quarter of a mile in circumference but gains photo-worthy attraction with its octopus-like branches and limbs that make this tree a true form of art.

Drive the road to Hana

See some of the best of what Maui has to offer with a scenic drive along the Road to Hana. This 53-mile drive offers infinite curves that bring you close to hiking trails, cascading waterfalls, pristine beaches, and so many more natural beauties that make Maui so special.

Bike down into a volcano

Discover the dormant volcano of Haleakala by way of bike. The volcano reaches just over 10,000 feet, which is where you will start your tour with Bike Maui and then cruise down the mountain for incredible views and an unforgettable adrenalin rush.

Go whale watching

Whale watching on Maui is one of the more popular island activities that should be added to any Maui 2020 bucket list. The waters of West and South Maui are quiet and tranquil, making the odds of seeing the Humpback whale good. There are plenty of whale-watching charters in the area, ready to guide you along your maritime adventures.

Try Spam Musubi

Maui is home to a wide variety of unique cuisine, one of which includes Spam Musubi. This Maui delicacy consists of a slice of canned spam that is then wrapped in seaweed. This dish is found at most delis, gas stations, and grocery stores.

Sample sushi and poke

Another popular food dish to try is sushi and a poke bowl. Because of Maui’s location, it has access to some of the best fresh fish in the world. So, indulge your senses and try a few sushi rolls and a poke bowl when visiting Maui.
