Chinese New Year Celebration

Wo Hing Museum in Lahaina will be hosting a celebration of the Chinese New Year from 5 to 9 pm. Crafts, cultural exhibitions and a talk on the history of this year lead up to a final dance with firecrackers.

Chinese Kite Festival

April 17-18, 2015
Wo Hing Museum, Lahaina

Explore the history and magic of Chinese kite flying at the Chinese Kite Festival, presented by the Wo Hing Museum. Check out the showcases of kites and their makers’ techniques from centuries ago through the present, then make one of your own and fly it at the Keka’a North Beach Open Space on Saturday. A collection of Chinese food and music will be included as part of the festivities.

20th Annual Haiku Ho’olaule’a and Flower Festival

If you happen to be in the East Maui area on April 25, 2015, stop by the Haiku Community Center between 9:00 to 4:30pm for a sample of Maui life: during this time the annual Haiku Ho’olaule’a and Flower Festival will present live music, a bake sail, a silent auction, historical display and more. This free event has something for visitors of all kinds and family members of all ages!

Maui Chamber Orchestra Spring Concert

“Hawaii’s answer to Sundance” is the Maui Film Festival: showings of independently-made films and Academy Award contenders alike, both in traditional theatres and large outdoor screenings. The first round of showings in 2015 will be taking place in Wailea, less than an hour’s drive from Kahana Sunset!

Chinese Moon Festival

Enjoy tea and moon cakes while hearing an erhu performance and watching—or taking part in—fan and community lantern dances. With different craft activities and a talk on the significance of moon festivals in China, this fun and educational event is perfect for the whole family.

Sun Yat-Sen Festival

November 13-14, 2015

This Festival honors the memory of Dr. Sun Yat-Sen, the “Father of Modern China”, with a lei ceremony, martial arts demonstrations and displays about his life. It all takes place at the Wo Hing Museum with a lecture in the Cookhouse Theater—admission is free.
